carlos 'alemao' galetti - head coach

Alemao was appointed Coach for the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) National Women's Beach Volleyball teams in January 2006. He is also the Head Coach for Team LM athletes Natalie Cook and Tamsin Barnett, incremental in guiding them on their path Beijing Gold in 2008.

Alemao was born and raised in Brazil , and was therefore indoctrinated into the sport of beach volleyball from the early age of thirteen. At 21 years of age, Alemao began his professional beach volleyball career, and hence began an impressive list of esteemed accolades, titles and awards, among these was Gold Medal at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro in 1995.

After two shoulder surgeries forced him into retirement, in 1998 Alemao started his coaching career in California, responsible for many prominent athletes including Holly McPeak, 3-time Olympian and Athens Olympic Bronze medallist (2004).

More recently, Alemao was Head Coach of the Greek National Beach Volleyball Teams, coaching at the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Here he worked with 6-time World Champions and 2-time Silver Olympic medallists, Brazilians Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar.
